Does the aging process also seem too fast to you? Do you want to look as juvenile as you feel?
The trend towards classic operative face-lifting methods such as cutting, tightening, and sewing has declined significantly during the past few years. Today, a small injection can yield great effects. Not only people that are in the focus of public attention are increasingly getting into filler injections with hyaluronic acid and directed relaxation of wrinkle-causing muscles by means of Botox.
The goal of a treatment in my practice is not to yield a wrinkle-free face with rigid facial expression and frozen mimicry, but rather to reduce the traces of a life well lived.
Injections of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers
Occurring naturally in the human body, hyaluronic acid is a carbohydrate that can bind big amounts of water. As we grow older, the concentration of our body’s own hyaluronic acid decreases, which makes our skin look wrinkled and less elastic. By injecting a hyaluronic acid dermal filler just under the skin surface, it is possible to re-smooth the irregularities of the skin and to make existing wrinkles appear more superficial. After about three days, your skin will look remarkably more radiant and fresh.
This very gentle and effective method is especially suited for reducing wrinkles of the nasiolabial folds (from the nose to the corners of the mouth), the marionette lines (from the corners of the mouth to the chin), the lip contours, and the cheek area as well as for lifting the corners of the mouth.
Furthermore, an extensive dermal filler injection in the face or the back of the hand can be done with an especially designed needle. This atraumatic blunt-tip needle – a Pixl microcannula – hurts neither tissue nor vessels.
Before the treatment, the skin is gently cleansed. At your request, a topical anaesthetic can be applied prior to the injection. However, usually this is not necessary since an ultra-thin needle is used and the product already contains Lidocain (an anaesthetic).
The procedure itself usually does not take more than 15 minutes. Afterwards, you can immediately resume your normal activities. Commonly, the substance is tolerated very well since it also occurs naturally in the body. In some cases, however, there may be a light swelling or, more seldom, bruises, which can easily be treated by cooling the affected area.
The result of a filler injection with hyaluronic acid lasts about six to twelve months. Regular touch-up treatment is recommended since this will increase the life cycle of the substance. At the same time, the necessary amount of the dermal filler is reduced and its life cycle can be prolonged to up to two years.

Treating wrinkles with Botox
Botulinum toxin is a natural protein existing in bacteria. Minute amounts of the substance are injected directly under the skin surface, into the muscles that are to be treated. Thus, it is excellently suited for directed treatment of wrinkles in aesthetic medicine. Especially wrinkles caused by the contraction of facial muscles can be reduced by Botox. The substance only blocks the neurotransmission responsible for the excessive contraction. Other neural functions – such as the tactile sense of the skin – are not affected.
Areas very well suited for Botox treatment are the horizontal lines and the frown lines on the forehead as well as the periorbital wrinkles (crow’s feet). People with smooth forehead lines do not only appear younger but most of all more relaxed, friendlier, less angry and thus altogether happier.
If, after detailed information and advice, you decide to opt for a Botox treatment, the respective skin area will be cleansed thoroughly. The substance is then injected into the desired area. Since very thin needles and only minute amounts of Botox are used, you will hardly feel anything. A local topical anaesthetic is not required but can be applied at your request. After the successful treatment you can immediately leave our practice and resume your normal activities.
Three days after the treatment, the first results will be evident and after about seven days the effect will be visible in full. Botox is gradually absorbed by the body and looses its effect after about four to six months.
In order to achieve permanent wrinkle prevention, regular touch-up treatment is recommended.
A further indication for a Botox therapy is excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis). Botox is injected into locally restricted areas (armpits, palms, soles…) in intervals of one centimetre. The sweat-reducing effect does not set in immediately, but it will take about a week up to fourteen days until the sweating at the respective areas (sweat hotspots) is reduced noticeably.
